Wal-Mart’s Sam’s Club Membership Backdating

Chimicles & Tikellis is investigating a potential class action lawsuit against Wal-Mart. Consumers can buy from Wal-Mart annual memberships to shop at Sam’s Club wholesale-style markets. It has been reported that when consumers allow their annual memberships to Sam’s Club to lapse and subsequently renew them, Wal-Mart will backdate the start of the new membership to the end of the old one (rather than begin it on the day it was actually purchased). As a result, consumers who renew their annual Sam’s Club memberships may be receiving a membership that is less than 12 months long.
