Investigation Chimicles & Tikellis is investigating a proposed class action lawsuit on behalf of persons who purchased a Sony Playstation®3 (“PS3”) with an advertised “Other OS” feature. The PS3 “Other OS” feature allowed users to play games, watch movies, view photos, listen to music, and run a full-featured Linux operating system that enabled the PS3 to function as a home computer with a direct connection to the internet. On or about March 28, 2010, Sony announced that it would no longer support the “Other OS” feature on the PS3. As a result, users installing the Sony 3.21 firmware update maybe losing the “Other OS” feature and/or other features that originally played a significant role in their decision to purchase a PS3.
