Military Veterans - Life Insurance Fraud
C&T is investigating a class action lawsuit pertaining to possible fraud in the life insurance industry, specifically to beneficiaries of the Service Members Group Life Insurance, Veterans Group Life Insurance, and Traumatic Injury Protection. Some insurance companies may be defrauding families of deceased military personnel by siphoning millions of dollars of death benefits for themselves. At issue is whether insurers, rather than pay out lump sums upon the deaths of the policyholders, instead keep money in potentially risky accounts they controlled, and pay out low yields to the survivors. The New York Attorney General has recently subpoenaed six insurers as a result of his probe into possible fraud into the life insurance industry relating to military veterans.
